Styles of Lip Blushing

Classic Lip Blushing

The classic lip blushing technique is used to achieve either a very subtle lip, or a dramatic lipstick look. One color is used to cover the entire lip in the desired shape.

Transform Your Look with Inked By Paiz

    Step 1: Lip Blushing Consultation

To start your lip blushing journey, it is recommended (but not required) to schedule a lip blushing consultation. Here we will discuss your desired shape, color, and the overall goal you are looking to achieve. We will also walk through the entire procedure as well as the healing process, easing any anxiety you may have and addressing all of your questions or concerns.

    Step 2: Numbing

At Inked By Paiz, numbing is included in all of the permanent makeup services. When you arrive for your lip blushing appointment, the first thing we do is apply a topical numbing cream to the lips. That will sit anywhere from 40 - 50 minutes to ensure maximum comfort for the beginning of the procedure. After the first pass on the lips with the tattoo machine, a secondary numbing solution will be added to help maintain your comfortability through the remainder of your lip blushing appointment.

    Step 3: Mapping

After you have finished numbing, we will map out your lips. This is done by measuring your natural lips and hand drawing an outline to get them as symmetrical as possible. After the mapping is complete you will have the opportunity to change anything about the outline to fit your desired shape before starting the tattoo process.

Step 4: We Begin the Tattooing Process

After determining you are numb and have successfully been mapped, we will begin the tattoo process. This is done with a professional tattoo machine and permanent makeup needles. Using the tattoo machine, ink will be deposited under the skin of the lips in the desired color and shape. Typically this process takes about 2 hours, and usually takes 3 passes with the tattoo machine. After the first pass with the tattoo machine the secondary numbing solution is applied to the lips to ensure maximum comfort through the rest of the tattooing process.

    Step 5: The Big Reveal

After finishing the tattoo process you will finally get to see your new lips! After you have had the chance to fall in love with them, we will discuss your aftercare once more and an after care kit will be provided to you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Lip Blushing

How long will the results last?

After your 6 week touchup, lip blushing results typically last anywhere between 2-3 years before needing another touchup. How long it will last depends on your skin type, lifestyle, and the color of the pigment. Typically bolder colored pigments last longer than when a more natural colored pigment is used.

    Are you a good candidate?

If you are seeking to enhance your natural lip color, neutralize discoloration in the lips, or are just looking for a lip tint, lip blushing is definitely an option for you!

Can lip blushing be done on lips that have lip filler?

Yes, it is just suggested to keep the 2 appointments 6 weeks apart.

How is the color of pigment chosen?

If you are looking for a lip tint look, then it is suggested to bring in your favorite lip stick to color match, or a picture of the color you are looking to get. If you are looking at lip neutralization, then your lips will be color matched in order to keep the tone even over the lips.

How long does the healing process take?

After having lip blushing done, your lips will "scab" anywhere from 1-2 weeks, this will just feel like chapped lips. After 2 week your lips will appear to be pretty much done healing, but it will take another 6 - 8 weeks for your color to even out to be the tone it is meant to be.

    Who should avoid lip blushing?

    - Pregnant or breastfeeding women

    - Those with transmittable blood conditions such as HIV or Hepatitis

    - Individuals with active infections

    - Individuals with active skin conditions in the treatment area (such as cancer or eczema)

    - Those with scleroderma

    - Individuals undergoing chemotherapy or radiation

    - Individuals with uncontrollable diabetes
